John Gilmour Academic Scholarship

  • Applications for scholarship entry to Years Seven to Twelve in 2025 are now closed

John Gilmour Academic Scholarships are awarded to students who exhibit the values of Great Southern Grammar, demonstrate positive personal qualities and achieve a good result in the scholarship examination.

Great Southern Grammar uses the Australian Council for Education Research (ACER) Cooperative Scholarship Testing Program (CSTP) as its scholarship examination.

To apply for this scholarship, parents will first need to complete the ACER registration.

Registrations are completed online with a $110 application fee levied. Walk-in registrations incur a $180 fee in addition to the application fee. Please note that the application fee is non-refundable.

The following levels apply:

  • Level One ACER scholarship test if your child will enter Years Seven or Eight
  • Level Two ACER scholarship test if your child will enter Years Nine or Ten
  • Level Three ACER scholarship test if your child will enter Years Eleven or Twelve

After the ACER registration, the student applicant completes the online student response form. This student response along with the academic examination is taken into account during the selection process.

Short-listed candidates will then be requested to attend an interview.

Please note that to be eligible for a scholarship, applicants must be Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents.
