Healthy minds and bodies at every age

Sport is an important part of learning and growing. After all, children learn best when movement is part of their day.

When it comes to sport, GSG’s got your child covered. We offer plenty of opportunities to participate in school teams as well as local, regional, and metropolitan competitions.

In Primary School, your child will compete with other Albany-based primary schools. As they grow into Secondary School, the competition pool grows, too. Through the Great Southern Secondary Schools Sporting Association, your child will compete with other students from across the region.

Not only here in Albany, but across Western Australia, GSG offers your child an opportunity to compete in a broad range of sporting activities, from friendly, local scratch matches to vying against the best competitors in the State.

Sport for school spirit

Interhouse sport

In addition to organised team sport, your child will have the chance to participate in interhouse and interschool competitions.

Interhouse sport plays a big part in drumming up house spirit among our students. The excitement is palpable at our interhouse swimming, athletics, and cross-country competitions, during which each House vies for the top spot.

We’d love you to get involved, too! Parent volunteers (under the direction of the Sport department) make these events run smoothly. Not only that, it’s a great way to become more connected to the GSG community.

Interschool sport

GSG participates in the Great Southern Secondary Schools Sporting Association Interschool events. These include swimming, athletics, cross country and year group-specific sport competitions.

Country Week

Held mid-year in Perth, the Country High Schools’ Carnival is a multi-sport event. Over the course of the year, student athletes strive for selection in this week-long tournament.
