Flexibility is a key feature of boarding at GSG. Students can go home, visit approved family friends for weekend or day leave, stay in on weekends and participate in sport, leisure activities and recreational programmes, or chill out with their friends. Saturday morning is typically allocated to shopping and sport.

Life in boarding houses outside of school hours offers a wide range of interests, activities and arrangements.

Students are transported by bus to various sporting commitments and shopping excursions, or the TRANSWA bus depot if they are heading home for the weekend.

Some residential students bring bicycles, skateboards, surfboards, bodyboards and fishing rods to have on hand for weekend activities offered. Students may make up a group to go to the movies or relax with DVDs.

If students wish to take leave for the weekend to stay with extended family or friends, prior notice is required, as well as parent approval of suitable hosts.
